Did you know that in 1992 the Government passed Legislation under the Control of Dogs Order that any dog in a public place must wear a collar and ID tag with the name and address of the owner on it? That means that it is a legal requirement for you as a responsible dog owner to make sure that your pooch is properly dressed with a collar and tag. Failure to comply can lead to a £5,000 fine. Even if your dog is micro chipped it is still the law that he or she must still wear a collar and a tag with your details on it. In fact a collar and tag should be used in addition to micro chipping.The information that I have on my dogs tag is the first line of my address, postcode and also my home phone number and my mobile number. I have never put the dogs name on its tag in the fear of if someone did try to steal him they would then know what to call him.Whenever I go out walking I always carry my mobile on me so the mobile number is important to have on a collar as if the dog should wonder off having found a nice sent and someone picks him up chances are the other person will also have a mobile on them and I can be contacted then and there. In fact this did happen to me a few months back and I was so pleased that firstly I had put my mobile number onto his tag and secondly that I had got my mobile with me, charged and at the ready!
